Blown Away!

florida sunset beach weddingKyla and Kenton's Windswept Wedding on Sunset Beach

Kyla and Kenton were visiting the Tampa Bay area all the way from Nebraska for a volleyball tournament and decided to tie the knot with an informal beach wedding while they were in Florida.

The day started out with rain, clouds, thunderstorms, and just plain awful weather. We spoke to Kyla throughout the day and she was calm, cool, and collected. Her attitude was "what will be, will be" (it probably helped that she had reserved the Sunset Beach Pavilion on Treasure Island as a backup plan for that very reason!).

And sure enough, as the afternoon wore on, the weather cleared. As we were setting up for their Sunset Beach wedding, there wasn't a cloud in the sky.

Then the wind started to blow...

And blow...as in 30 to 40 miles per hour! We really struggled to assemble our bamboo canopy, and the wind even blew over out sand ceremony table and broke a glass. But as challenging as it was, Kyla was determined to have a Florida beach wedding and use the pavilion only in case of a true emergency.

So we enlisted the help of their two wedding guests and their limo driver, to literally hold down the canopy so it didn't blow away during their beach wedding ceremony!

We all had a chuckle, but we must say it all worked out in the end. Kyla and Kenton's beach wedding was Simple, Elegant, and Perfect, and the wind made it all the more memorable - I know we won't forget it anytime soon!

After their beach wedding, Kyla, Kenton, and their guests jumped in their limo and headed off to Gennaro's Italian Restaurant on Pass-a-Grille for a casual dinner.

Kyla and Kenton: Thank you so much for choosing Simple Weddings! It was truly a pleasure to be a part of your Florida beach wedding. We wish you all the best in 2010 and beyond. Le and John’s Beach Wedding on Pass-a-Grille

pass-a-grille st pete beach florida beach wedding

Le and John worked with us to plan their Florida Beach Wedding from Illinois. They have a great story - they used to date each other 19 years ago, stayed in touch as friends for about nine years, then lost touch with each other for over 10 years! They reconnected about four months ago, spent their first date riding John's Harley, and the rest, as they say, is history!

Their beach wedding started out small, with plans for just the bride and groom and their two daughters. But, according to Le, “People just kept saying, “We’re coming too!”.Who could blame them?

The result was an intimate Florida beach wedding with about 10 of their closest friends and relatives. It was a beautiful family wedding ceremony on the soft white sand of St Pete Beach’s Pass-a-Grille Beach, with their daughter serving as the flower girl, their nephew coordinating the music, and Le’s father walking her down the beach to give the bride away.

Le and John shared their own personal marriage vows and incorporated their daughters into the sand unity ceremony, with each family member adding sand of a different color. It was Simple…Elegant…and Perfect!

Le and John – Thank you so much for choosing Simple Weddings! We were honored to be a part of your Florida Beach Wedding and wish you and the girls all the best. Below are a few of our favorite pictures from your St Pete Beach Wedding. Keep an eye on our website at www.SimpleWeddingsFlorida.com for the rest!

Dexter and Missy’s Don Vista Beach Wedding

don vista beach wedding

Dexter and his family are from the Bahamas. Missy is a Florida girl. So when it came time for wedding plans, a beach wedding was their obvious choice!

Dexter and Missy were married on the beach behind the Don Vista Cultural Center, right next door to the Don Cesar Beach Resort, where they held their reception and enjoyed their honeymoon suite following their beach wedding.

They were married on the one year anniversary of their first date. It was a romantic and intimate beach wedding ceremony, with Dexter and Missy exchanging their own personal vows. Missy incorporated the lyrics to Rascal Flatts' "God Bless the Broken Road" into her vows and had everyone in tears (including Claire!).

Dexter and Missy – It was an honor to be a part of your beach wedding plans! We wish you all the best. Below are a few of our favorite pictures from your Don Vista Beach Wedding. Keep an eye on our website at www.SimpleWeddingsFlorida.com for the rest!
